High Treason
Published in Paperback by Berkley Pub Group (November, 1993)
Average review score:

Groden did NOT write this book!It is an informative book but was origionaly written with co-author Harry Livingstone, who wrote nearly ALL of the text. Groden mearly supplied the photographic evidence, which he has made an effort to co-opt. He's played a shell game with the photo evidence and is now trying to take credit for the work of Harry Livingstone. Do not buy this book. If you're interested in this subject check out works by Harrison Livingstone, the REAL hero in this case.
A waste of timeGroden continues to make a comfortable living by seeing ghosts where there are none.
Consider that the assassination of our president was quite a shock; so much so that mistakes by competent people were inevitable.
Sure, the FBI tried to cover itself because it knew about Oswald.
And yes, the autopsy was not ideal.
It just fascinates me how the American public continues to believe everything it is fed by the JFK conspiracy writers who are making a good living off of your ignorance.
I recommend you rearrange your sock drawer instead of reading a Groden book.

Intimations of Mortality: W.O. Mitchell's Who Has Seen the Wind (Canadian Fiction Studies, No. 27)
Published in Paperback by ECW Press (January, 1992)

Sorry excuse for bookThe other person from ottawa took the words right out of my mouth!
sorry excuse for a bookThis is THE worst book that has ever been put into print. I do not know who's sick, SICK idea it was to force grade elvens to read this but I personally would pay-- I would pay not to have this book put into print and for the board of education to find an actual book like Catcher in the Rye or the stranger DO NOT come close to this book, if you can help it. If Amazon allowed it I would give this book negative ten hundred stars.

Portuguese Memory Book : A New Approach to Vocabulary Building
Published in Paperback by Univ of Texas Press (October, 1996)
Average review score:

"Muito" Hard to UnderstandAs a student of various Romance language, I purchased this book thinking it would allow me to learn Portuguese even more quicker, however, I was disappointed. The book uses mnemonics in order to help readers memorize words by using clever catch ryhmes, but instead of helping, it only confuses the student. I would pass on this series and any other books published by the University of Texas Press (e.g. "Simoes Com Licenca," etc..). Texas is a great place to learn Spanish, but if you really want to learn Portuguese, I highly recommend Georgetown University's "Travessia" series. It is an excellent book, audio, and video series that allows students to learn the language at an easy rate. Save your money and pass this book by!
An ineffective way to actually acquire another languageI have studied 4 languages beside Portuguese and purchased this book thinking it might be useful. Actually, this book uses a vocab learning aproach that incoorperates the sound of portuguese words with English definitions of those words in English rhymes. For example, "early" ("cedo" in Portuguese) might be presented as "SAY DO you want to call Dave, and be EARLY for tomorrow's parade?" Anyone familiar with language aquistion knows the most effective way to learn vocabulary is to define words in terms of images or vocabulary already aquired in the language. The idea of remembering a Portuguese word using English rhymes is silly and inappropriate for anyone seeking lasting mastery of the language. A real disappointment.

The Super Rare Postcards of Harrison Fisher: With Price Guide
Published in Paperback by Colonial House (October, 1992)
Average review score:

Don't waste your time or money!A BIG disappointment! Shoddy reproductions (black & white)with very poor resolution (small and out of focus reprints of the postcards.) If it wasn't such a hassle I would have returned the book.
Don't waste your money!I was hoping for some nice color pictures to go along with the price guide. No such luck. There are only some poorly scanned black and white pics. This book is only underline only a price guide!

All You Needed Was Love: The Beatles After the Beatles
Published in Paperback by Perigee (November, 1981)
Average review score:

Trash - keep this out of printI read a copy of this from my local library and asked that they remove it. This "book" employs yellow journalism to the hilt and finds nothing good nor objective to say on every event on the Beatles. Sources are lacking and conversations fabricated. Truly horrible.

Blessings from the Other Side: Wisdom and Comfort from the Afterlife for This Life
Published in Hardcover by E P Dutton (19 October, 2000)
Average review score:

Can you hear me, mother?Ms. Browne may find that her supernatural mumbo jumbo offers adivce and comfort to those of us recently bereaved but she couldn't tell me where my grandmother hid her bingo winnings, could she. Oh no. And I bought this before you reduced it. No one from the "other side" could think to tell her you were going to cut the price, could they. And my dead grandad is called Frank, not Alan, like she tries to claim.

Finding an Academic Job
Published in Paperback by Sage Publications (May, 1998)
Average review score:

What is she talking about?I am currently enrolled at Harvard Medical School, and I must say that this book is an insult to me and the thousands of graduate students everywhere. The advice given in this book is totally useless when it comes to preparing for graduate school. there is no way one can spend all of his/her time just studing, in between classes that is. Only through hardwork and constant studing can one ever achieve what one sets out to do. These people are bozos. Thank You.

Intermediate Spanish Memory Book : A New Approach to Vocabulary Building
Published in Hardcover by Univ of Texas Press (May, 1997)
Average review score:

Only for those who need this special memorization technique.Presents Spanish vocabulary using English rhymes. For example (p. 18):
" deber(1) ought to
One day bears traversed this splendid wild. Some say we ought to leave it undefiled."
Bold letters in the text draw attention to "day" and "bear" in the first line, which approximate the Spanish verb "deber". Bold letters in the second line draw attention to "ought to", the English meaning of "deber".
Different people learn languages in different ways, and some might find this technique useful. I found much more laborious than it was worth.
